Showcase Policies

Under no circumstances will the National Soccer Showcase be responsible for any expenses (including the tournament entry fee) incurred by any team. This includes any situation where the tournament or any game(s) are canceled in whole or part except as outlined in the terms and conditions of the Inclement Weather policy.

The tournament committee’s interpretation of these rules shall be final.

The tournament committee reserves the right to decide on all matters related to this event.

OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) rules will be used in the event of inclement weather or lightning/thunder in the area.

In case of inclement weather, please check this site for field and game closures and any cancellations. The following applies:

  • Play stops when the main tent sounds five (3) consecutive air horn blasts.
  • Referees may also stop the game at their discretion (visible lightning or audible thunder) but are not permitted to resume until the main tent has given the all-clear, as outlined below.

All participants and attendees must leave the field and seek safe shelter if either of the above criteria occurs. Strongsville National Soccer Showcase, its staff, volunteers, and Strongsville Soccer Organization are not responsible for any injury to anyone who does not adhere to these guidelines.

The Strongsville National Soccer Showcase adheres to OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association), NFHS (National Federation of High School Sports), and US Soccer regulations related to inclement weather. As such, the following applies:

  • Play cannot resume until 30 minutes have passed since the last sighting of lightning or audible thunder. Strongsville National Soccer Showcase puts the safety of all participants and attendees first, with no exceptions.
  • Play will resume only when the main tent sounds a second set of five (3) air horn blasts. Referees are not permitted to resume play until this all-clear has been given.

Due to the large number of games in the tournament, any games missed or stopped due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled. Refunds will only be given based on the terms and conditions outlined in the attached document.

The main schedule of games will be followed at all times. For example:

  • If a 4:10 – 4:50 game is stopped at 4:20 due to weather and resumed at 4:40, it will still end at the scheduled 4:50 time.
  • If a 4:10 – 4:50 game is stopped at 4:40 and stoppage extends beyond 4:50, the game is over, and the team should report to its 5:00 game.

Any team that withdraws from the event or forfeits any number of games will not receive a partial or full refund of its entry fee. No exceptions will be made to this policy; All teams are expected to participate for the duration of their schedule.

Under the following circumstances, refunds will be given on a prorated basis at the discretion of the Strongsville National Soccer Showcase staff. Refunds will not be given for any circumstances outside of these terms.

The Strongsville National Soccer Showcase has implemented this policy based on feedback from teams and coaches.  While many tournaments and showcases do NOT offer refunds for weather cancellations, we want to prioritize any hesitations you all may have. Large events like the Strongsville National Soccer Showcase require a significant amount of time, resources, and effort by many people to coordinate and execute. The weather is beyond our control and can be unpredictable. However, we value our competing organizations and want to create an event that encourages everyone to return yearly.  We pride ourselves on providing high-level play and service and hope this helps alleviate any reservations regarding inclement weather cancellations.

Games canceled for any reason other than inclement weather do not apply.  Games officially canceled will be called by and confirmed by the showcase committee and the showcase director with advice from referees. If inclement weather happens, the showcase committee and director reserve the right to adjust, relocate, and/or change the duration and/or format of any game(s) as needed to accommodate showcase needs and complete as many games safely as possible.  We will try our best to play all games, but we must keep close to the schedule.  Lightning will cause a delay, but it will be considered over if at least half of a "game" has been played.  If a storm or lightning continues for the duration of a scheduled game, that game will not be rescheduled or played.  Refund requests may only be filed by the registrant. Processing fees are not at the discretion of Strongsville National Soccer Showcase and, therefore, may not be refunded.

Coaches wishing to receive a refund must email the appropriate showcase director, whose info can be found on the Contact Us page of this site, and fill out a refund request form within one week of the end of the showcase.
